Smokey Robinson's daughter Tamla made sure to greet her father a happy 80th birthday on Instagram, sharing a sweet picture of them hugging outdoors.

Smokey Robinson is now 80-years-old, and his daughter Tamla made sure to let him know how much she loves him in a sweet tribute on Instagram.

Robinson created the holiday "Father-Daughter Day" to celebrate his daughter.

REMEMBERING SMOKEY'S EARLIER LIFE

The King of Motown was born on February 19, 1940, and has lived a colorful life. He is responsible for writing a total of 4000 songs, with 37 Top 40 hits.

With a career spanning almost seven decades, Smokey Robinson has definitely made a name for himself. In the past couple of years, however, he's kept a low profile and has been focusing on businesses and spending a lot more time with his family.

A LOOK AT SMOKEY'S RELATIONSHIPS

Robinson once married Claudette Rogers, and together shared two children, Berry Robinson, and a daughter named Tamla. While they were married, he had a child out-of-wedlock, named Trey. After revealing this, they had a divorce.

After their divorce, he got re-married, this time to Frances Gladney Robinson in May 2002, and they remain married up until today.

HIS SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH TAMLA

Tamla often shares pictures with her dad, and that's because they've kept a close relationship through the years. In fact, Robinson even created the holiday "Father-Daughter Day" which is celebrated every October 8, to celebrate the bond between a father and a daughter.

At the time, Robinson revealed he aimed to celebrate the special day for his six daughters, five of whom are not always heard about by the public.

"As an honored father of six beautiful daughters, the father/daughter relationship is one I have cherished for decades. There are many different kinds of families today, and we know that all parental relationships are important to the healthy development of children, but the father/daughter bond is unique and one that is near to my heart."

Based on how Tamla always shares about her special days with her father, it seems the feeling is mutual and Father-Daughter Day is something special not just to Smokey, but to her as well.
