Abby Lee Miller from 'Dance Moms' Reveals Horrific Details of Facelift Performed While She Was Awake
A few months ago, “Dance Moms” reality star Abby Lee Miller, 53, opened up about undergoing a facelift with plastic surgeon Dr. Payman Simoni. The doctor’s procedure is unique in that the patient stays awake throughout.
The surgery was ideal for Miller who was instructed not to go under general anesthesia. After having multiple health issues and undergoing different surgeries unrelated to the facelift, the star felt she needed to do something to make her “feel better.”
Miller wanted something that “made me look better and something that I was like, 'Wow, I had surgery, but look at me now.'" In April 2018, the star was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma and also had to undergo emergency spinal surgery.

Abby’s facelift procedure
The reality star shared how she was awake while getting her facelift and actually spoke to Simoni while he cut her “face open.” Miller described how the experience was “horrific.”
She recalled being numbed for the procedure and felt quite comfortable throughout. The star shared how she saw footage of “the actual technique and the cutting and the sucking the stuff out, and then I was absolutely horrified and freaked out."
Being awake during surgery
Despite her fears, Miller admitted that she didn’t feel anything during the surgery. She confessed that she wouldn’t have spoken to Simoni during the procedure if she had seen the footage before.
Miller could hear sounds
One thing the star was affected by was the sounds during the surgery. She heard the knife cutting in and could also hear the sucking noise from the machines used by the doctor.
Happy with surgery results
However, the end result of the surgery has left Miller happy. She confessed how she used to airbrush out her wrinkles and was self-conscious about her neck.
Showing off her new face
Earlier in the month, the “Dance Moms” star showed off the results of her face and neck lift. Two preview clips from “The Doctors” were published by “People” magazine to reveal the changes she underwent.
The reality TV star admitted that she had been "scared" by the procedure before undertaking it.
