Kate Middleton Paid Tribute to the Queen by Wearing Her Diamond Earrings during Theater Outing with Prince William
On Tuesday night, Duchess Kate had a date night with husband Prince William. For the evening’s event, the mother of three wore earrings that were a tribute to the Queen.
Kate and William, both 38, went out to the West End this week to see the musical “Dear Evan Hansen.” The charity show was hosted at the Noël Coward Theatre.
The Duchess wore a custom black Eponine tweed dress and sparkling silver Jimmy Choo shoes for the occasion. The mother-of-three held on to a matching clutch bag.

Kate’s stunning earrings
She added a bit of dazzle to her look with a pair of diamond chandelier earrings from the monarch’s jewelry collection. The earrings, which are Kate’s favorite, feature three strands of smaller diamonds in a chandelier style.
The accessories also sport a large pearl-style diamond and a diamond arc. The bottom of the jewelry boasts a fringe of three additional strands of round and baguette diamonds.

The Duchess once wore the earrings in July 2011 at the BAFTA Gala in Los Angeles. Kate wore the earrings again in December 2013 at the Queen's diplomatic reception.
In 2015, she was spotted wearing them at a Chinese state banquet. Two years later she wore them again at a Paris Reception, then again the same year at the Royal Variety Performance, and in 2018, she sparkled in the jewelry at the Tusk Trust Awards.
What William wore
William complemented his wife in a blue suit, a white shirt, and a blue tie. The couple met members of the cast of the musical before William spoke to the audience after the performance had ended.
Sharing images from the event
On Kensington Royal’s Instagram page, a number of photos were shared from the evening. It was revealed that the event was held in aid of The Royal Foundation.
Kate wears earrings to state banquet
On June 3, 2019, Kate wore the earrings at the state banquet hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace. The event was held to mark Donald Trump's official state visit to the United Kingdom.
Who originally owned the jewelry
The Duchess’s earrings were borrowed from the Queen Mother's collection. Queen Elizabeth II's mother was seen wearing the same diamond and sapphire fringe earrings in 1986 at the play “Rookery Nook” by Ben Travers.
