Chrissy Teigen Opens up about Taking Offense at a Comment on Daughter Luna That Turned out to Be of Help
Chrissy Teigen is undoubtedly one of the internet's queens of clapbacks. Yet there was one instance in which she should have — and did — listened to one person's advice despite its pour delivery.
Chrissy Teigen is not just a businesswoman, former model, and wife of famous R&B singer John Legend. One of her most significant roles these days is that of a mom. And she's a protective one indeed.
In a promotional interview with Today Parents for her Pampers "Share the Love Campaign," Teigen talked about her quickness to address mom-shamers. The mother-of-one gets lots of those.
Constant mom-shaming
Teigen, 34, is mom to three-year-old Luna and one-year-old Miles. Online, Teigen is known for her witty comebacks to people who try to mom shame her. She's especially defensive when it comes to her kids.
The cookbook author is like a typical mom who loves sharing photos and videos of her children. Unfortunately, this also draws in unwarranted advice from followers and people on the internet in general.
Teigen in defensive mode
One such incident took place years ago, Teigen recalled. She related how a commenter said that daughter Luna had a tongue-tie. They even demanded that she take Luna, then a baby, to the doctor.
At the time, Teigen responded with, "Get out of my photo. No, she doesn't." According to People, Teigen admitted that she didn't even know what the condition was.

What is a tongue-tie
According to the Cedars Sinai website, a tongue-tie, also called ankyloglossia, starts from birth and "causes speech and eating problems in some children."
It occurs when the frenulum, the fold located on the tongue's underside that reaches the mouth's floor, comes out too short or tight during birth. This deters movement to various extents based on severity.
The mom-shamer actually helped
Teigen obliged the advice, going to the doctor a few days later to learn that the shamer was right. "That was the one time it actually worked out," she noted.
Now that her daughter is almost four, Teigen's challenges have changed a bit. They're still relatable, though. For instance, daughter Luna is not excited about taking pictures.
Getting Luna to take pictures
Luckily, Teigen has a way to get around the issue. Speaking to People, the tv-personality revealed that her method with Luna involves payment in the form of a quarter or a Sour Patch Kid.
The mother-daughter duo is extremely close these days despite earlier years when Teigen would get jealous of how her baby girl interacted with her husband and the kids' father, Legend.
Luna tries dentistry
The pair are so close that Teigen allows the little girl to do dental work in her mouth — albeit gently. Last month, Teigen shared a sweet clip of Luna in action with her new hobby.
Although there was a lot of mouth on display, the video itself was silent. In the nearly 30-second clip, we see as little Luna sits over her mother's face while Teigen is lying on her back on a rug.
"Found another passion," Teigen captioned the clip. In the comments, people called Luna a dentist in the making. Luna has come a long way from her tongue-tie. We wonder what hobby will stick.
