McGhee Sextuplets Turn 10 This Year — Meet Them a Decade after Their Newborn Photo Went Viral
It has been a decade since the McGhee sextuplets became famous for an adorable portrait with their parents. Here's a look at them now as they enter the third grade.
Having sextuplets born is a very rare case that only happened less than 200 times, as far as statistics can go. Unfortunately, having this case also means a lower chance of survival for infants, lowering the numbers.
Among the few sextuplets who gained fame are the McGhees, who hail from Columbus, Ohio nearly ten years ago. Here's a look at the six kids who once had their own television show.
THE MCGHEE PARENTS
Rozonno and Mia McGhee, who came from humble beginnings, tied the knot before they reached 20-years-old. Mia shared:
"Since I didn't have a father, I've always wanted my children to have a father. I wanted, of course, to graduate from high school, go to college, get married."
For three years, the couple tried to have children. After exhausting all options, they had no choice but to seek fertility treatment.
They later had their first television series on the Oprah Winfrey Network, called "Sit Little McGhees," from 2012 to 2014.
It wasn't long until Mia became pregnant with twins, but sadly, they came out stillborn. The following pregnancy was already their sextuplets.
RAISING SIX KIDS
Although having six children born at the same time can get chaotic, the couple remains grateful for having children.
Rozonno has a carpet-cleaning service business, while Mia is a stay-at-home mom for their kids. However, the two sometimes get by with a little outside help. Mia said:
"Most days, maybe two or three, people come throughout the morning and then night to help with baths and help with clean up. I stick to a schedule and clean the babies' bottles as soon as they're done eating."
The mother-of-six added that she works hard to become a good mother and ensures she can instill values in her children's lives, especially faith in God.
BECOMING FAMOUS
The world first knew of the sextuplets, Elijah, Isaac, Josiah, Rozonno Jr., Madison, and Olivia, after their photo went viral on social media.
They later had their first television series on the Oprah Winfrey Network, called "Sit Little McGhees," from 2012 to 2014.
In the next two years, their reality show called "Growing Up McGhee" aired on OPtv. Now, the McGhee sextuplets are bigger and with minds of their own.
ALL GROWN UP
While some may think that this is easier for their parents, Mia definitely thinks otherwise. She shared the difficulty of each being more aware of their surroundings:
"They have their own opinions, personalities, and identities. Our household as it stands today is in a bit of an uproar."
Elijah, Isaac, Josiah, Rozonno Jr., Madison, and Olivia are not nearing the age of ten, and their parents are thriving to make ends meet, with Mia working as a realtor and Rozonno with his business.
The kids are currently in the third grade because of the McGhee's decision to hold them back for a year. As they grow, getting everyone to do their responsibilities, like homework and chores, gets tougher for the couple. Mia adds:
"Each one is an individual, and it's amazing and crazy to watch. The house is in a frenzy, and the once-had-it-together parents are taking each one day at a time."
However, the love each child has for each other, despite the natural fights they get into, becomes a strength for Mia and Rozonno to keep working for their future.
