“How about you amaze me and do the right thing.”

NASSAR INCIDENT

Biles is not just a strong and talented gymnast, but also a brave and outspoken individual who went up against her peers.

She spoke about the abuse she experienced with Larry Nassar, who was convicted of sexual misconduct among children and older girls.

The Olympic athlete called out USA Gymnastics to investigate and take necessary steps, but instead, the organization offered a $215 settlement for the accused’s victims.

USAG reportedly put investigations regarding the case on hold despite knowing that Biles was among the athletes assaulted by Nassar in 2015.

In 2019, the gymnast tweeted about the “pain” she felt since the incident and how much an investigation on the matter was needed.

President and CEO of USAG Li Li Leung said that he was “surprised, deeply saddened, and outraged” after knowing Biles was among those who were part of the 2015 notification.

2020 OLYMPICS

Biles is in the middle of training for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she is set to represent the country after her record-breaking performance in the US Championships.

She said:

“In gymnastics, there is a risk factor -- risk vs. reward. Gymnastics can be a dangerous sport so you have to be smart.”
