Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau maintained that he was fine following the announcement that his wife, Sophie, tested positive to the novel coronavirus, which continues to spread all over the world.

Justin Trudeau was speaking at a press conference held outside of his residence on Friday and said that he and his family would be self-isolating for 14 days, adding that he had no symptoms of the virus and was feeling good.

Trudeau also said that his wife's symptoms were mild and that they were following medical advice, and taking every precaution. He further expressed confidence in Canadian health officials to deal with the spread of the virus in the country.

The Prime Minister further revealed that he hadn't been tested for the virus because, according to him, there wasn't any reason to be tested until one began to show symptoms of the sickness.

Trudeau's stance is much similar to that of U.S President, Donald Trump, who initially didn't see the need to be tested after coming in contact with a Brazilian official that later tested positive to the virus.

Donald Trump was later tested for the virus, with the tests coming out negative. Leading White House medical official, Dr. Anthony Fauci, also believes that Americans shouldn't test for coronavirus unless they had symptoms related to the disease.

That stance is, however, countered by medical professionals who say that victims of coronavirus can still spread the disease to others irrespective of if they were showing symptoms or not.
