Rita Wilson Teams up with Naughty by Nature for Charity Remix of 'Hip Hop Hooray' Amid COVID-19 Crisis
Rita Wilson is grateful for surviving the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). She is now doing her part to help others recover or cope with the impact of the pandemic.
On her Instagram, the actress announced her new charitable initiative. She has teamed up with hip-hop group Naughty By Nature to raise money for the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Wilson and Naughty By Nature worked on the remix "Hip Hop Hooray." Sharing about what the song meant to her, she wrote: "Hip Hop Hooray is like modern day Shakespeare. I originally learned the song for one of the most fun roles I ever played in the film Boy Genius."

SINGING WHILE RECOVERING
The actress said it took her a month to learn the song, describing it as complex and nuanced. She revisited the song while she was on quarantine and recovering from COVID-19.
She sang the song and shared it on her Instagram to show her friends and fans that she was doing. Naughty By Nature then commented about it, to her surprise.
That's how their collaboration began. She proceeded to do the remix with the trio, who are among the legends of the Hip-Hop world.
TRIO WAS SHOCKED
Naughty By Nature had been sent the video of Wilson recording the song while she was recovering with husband Tom Hanks in Australia, as reported by Rolling Stone. Hanks also contracted the virus.
"We were totally shocked she could rap the verses so well," the group said in a statement. The trio consists of Treach, Vin Rock, and DJ Kay Gee.
Hanks and Wilson are among the Hollywood's power couples.
FALLING ILL IN AUSTRALIA
The profits from their music collaboration project with Wilson will be donated to the MusiCares Foundation Inc. COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Wilson and Hanks tested positive for the highly contagious diseases while in Australia, as reported by Daily Mail. The actor was filming a biopic of Elvis Presley in Queensland.
The yet-to-be-titled film is directed by Baz Luhrmann. The couple had themselves tested immediately after they felt tired, had colds, chills and slight fevers, as reported by The Guardian.
They went into isolation in a hospital on the Gold Coast. Local officials sprung into action, conducting contract tracing to determine whom Hanks and Wilson had close contact with.
Hanks and Wilson are among the Hollywood's power couples. They have been living happily together for more than 30 years. The couple share two sons. Before Wilson, the actor was married to Samantha Lewes, with whom he also shared two children.
