Speaking about her role as a mom, she revealed it was a difficult decision for her to become a single mother when she separated from her partner.

Ultimately, she revealed it was her mom who inspired and motivated her to be strong and have the confidence to do what she felt was right at the time. Moments after, the actress was in tears as she recounted her mom's resourcefulness as a single parent that allowed her to be who she is today.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE

The "Empire" star has two sons, her eldest Massai Zhivago Dorsey II, and youngest, Kez Sunday Udoka. She welcomed Kez in 2012 with boyfriend Ime Udoka, and she once shared that she felt "reborn" since his arrival.
