Kenya Barris and his wife Rainbow are giving their marriage another shot after the "Black-ish" creator filed for the dismissal of their divorce. This is not the first time the couple reconsidered their divorce.

Just nine months after Kenya Barris filed for divorce from his wife, Dr. Rania “Rainbow” Barris, the “Black-ish” creator backtracked and is calling it off.

A report first shared by The Blast revealed that Kenya has filed for the dismissal of his divorce which he originally filed in August 2019. It’s a clear sign that he again reconsidered ending his two-decade marriage to Rainbow with whom he shares six children. Four are minors and two are over 18.

All-too familiar with the dynamics of marriage as a sitcom creator, Kenya regretted then that his own marriage fell apart.

This is not the first time the couple reversed their divorce filing. Back in 2014, Rainbow petitioned for one but withdrew the request after they reconciled a year later. Last year, it was Kenya’s turn to file, citing irreconcilable differences. He admitted to TI during the rapper's podcast earlier this month that it was a difficult decision.

“It is the toughest thing I’ve ever been through in my life.”

“We didn’t know about therapy or really understand it. We didn’t know about really having the church or other married friends that would have given us the skeleton to make it in another sort of way.”

Details surrounding Kenya’s change of heart were not revealed. But we’re certain his 20-year history with Rainbow had a lot to do with it. In fact, his marriage is so important to him, he loosely based his “Black-ish” characters’ marriage to his own.

Tracee Ellis Ross, who plays the wife of Anthony Anderson’s character, Andre “Dre” Johnson is also named Rainbow. Like the character's real-life inspiration, on-screen "Bow" is also a hard-working doctor who's bi-racial and bears the same qualities as Rainbow - smart, opinionated, and laughs easily.

It is pleasant news that Kenya and Rainbow's marriage is getting a third chance. Many couples can learn a thing or two from this couple who seem to find their way back to each other even when things get tough.
