Julianne Hough and Husband Brooks Laich Split – Timeline of Their Nearly 3-Year Marriage
According to “People” magazine, Julianne Hough, 31, and her husband of 3 years, Brooks Laich, 36, have decided to separate. The couple has since been socially distancing separately amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
At the moment, Hough is self-isolating in Los Angeles while her husband is in Idaho at their other home. In December 2013, Hough’s “Curve” co-star, Teddy Sears, introduced them to each other.
Sears had been trying to hook the pair up long before that. At the time, the former “Dancing with The Stars (DWTS)” professional dancer hadn’t seen a single match by the Washington Capitals and Laich had never watched DWTS.

HOOKING UP & GETTING ENGAGED
The sparks flew quickly between the pair and by February 2014; it was confirmed that they were seeing each other. They were even spotted together at Disneyland.
I am learning more about intimacy and my sexuality
In August 2015, the duo announced their engagement. The “Footloose” star even took to her Instagram account to confirm the good news.
GETTING MARRIED
At the time, the pair had been dating for a year and a half. In July 2017, the couple made things official by getting married in an outdoor ceremony outside of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Their wedding was attended by nearly 200 guests. The couple then had their honeymoon in Seychelles and shared their vacation on their Instagram pages.
GOING THROUGH IVF
In June 2019, Laich revealed that his wife was “going through IVF” so that they could increase the chances of her getting pregnant when they were ready because she has endometriosis. At the time, the NHL player said:
“My wife and I want to have children in our future.”
FREEZING HER EGGS
However, the pair weren’t trying to get pregnant yet; Hough froze her eggs as a precautionary measure. Two months later, Hough shocked her fans when she confessed telling her husband she wasn’t straight.
She explained to Laich that she was choosing to be with him. In September 2019, the athlete addressed his wife’s statement saying: “My wife, to her credit, is constantly evolving, challenging, growing.”
“BECOMING A BETTER MAN”
Then in December things really started going down south. Laich raised speculations when he shared an Instagram post about “becoming a better man.”
In another post, he shared a list of his goals for the New Year. These included him being more “present in my relationships” and learning “more about intimacy and my sexuality.”
GOING THROUGH PROBLEMS
While co-hosting NBC’s New Year’s Eve event, Hough was seen without her wedding ring. In January 2020, the hockey player took to Instagram again sharing a cryptic message about “stepping into a new chapter.”
A source also informed “Us Weekly,” that the couple “were having problems” in their marriage. The following month, another insider claimed the pair were working through their issues and were “still together.”
SELF-ISOLATING SEPARATELY
On his podcast, “How Men Think with Brooks Laich & Gavin DeGraw,” Laich revealed how his wife had taught him how to be sexually open. In March 2020, the pair shared that they were self-isolating together.
HOUGH SEEN WITH BEN BARNES
Laich even revealed that he was learning to cook breakfast for the Emmy winner. The next month, Hough was seen walking with Ben Barnes in Los Angeles while her husband was quarantined in Idaho.
JULIANNE ENJOYING SOLITUDE
The athlete has been working on cleaning and upgrading their property while alone there. Hough shared how her time away from her husband has “really been a magical time.”
MARRIAGE ON THE ROCKS
A source also claimed that she and Laich were "not doing well" in their marriage. Laich confessed that he was suffering from a low sex drive while being away from his wife.
SEPARATING
On May 29, 2020, the pair confirmed their separation. After their breakup announcement, Hough went back online to teach her Kinrgy fitness classes.
