Amanda Seales assured she's not leaving "The Real" due to issues with her co-hosts and revealed the deeper reason why she decided not to renew her contract.
Amanda Seales got real over the fate of her co-hosting stint on “The Real.” Just six months after joining the daytime talk show, she admitted, it’s time to part ways.
Seales opened up about her decision to say goodbye to the show in a recent Instagram Live clip where she's joined by Brandon actor and advocate, Brandon Dixon. According to the 38-year-old comedian, she decided not to renew her contract.
Seales further clarified that her leaving had nothing to do with any issue with her co-hosts because there were none.
Seales admitted the decision was borne out of her need to express herself properly which wasn’t addressed in the show.
“It doesn’t feel good to my soul to be at a place where I can not speak to my people the way they need to be spoken to and where the people that are speaking to me in despairing ways are not being handled."
She added that what she needs is a working space where a Black woman like her can have a voice along with her co-workers and whose voice is respected by those on top.
Seales further clarified that her leaving had nothing to do with any issue with her co-hosts because there were none. She challenged,
"Do not try to create some false dissention between me and the co-hosts of The Real. Y'all so [expletive] corny.”
She also insisted that she didn’t unfollow any of her co-hosts including Loni Love, as rumors suggested. Meanwhile, Love showed support by commenting on Seales’ video saying Seales makes her laugh, think and “be a better woman.”
Fans likewise showed support for Seales’ decision to quit, applauding her for refusing to be silenced and protecting her integrity. They admitted they loved her on the show but also understood why she had to leave.
Seales joined the “Real” years after Tamar Braxton left the show. She was first a guest co-host on several occasions in 2019 before she became a regular January. Seales’ co-hosts, Jeannie Mai, Adrienne Houghton, Tamera Mowry, and Love have yet to comment on her intended exit.
