Sanaa Lathan of 'Love & Basketball' Flaunts Her Growing Afro in Stunning Selfies

Sanaa Lathan from 'Love and Basketball' showed off her natural afro as she posed for several gorgeous selfies while lounging on a couch.

Leading up to Sanaa Lathan's role as Violet Jones on "Nappily Ever After," she made the brave decision to cut off all her hair. Since making the drastic change, Lathan has detailed her journey in embracing her natural hair.

In an interview with Associated Press, she said that there was a bit of back and force with the production team about cutting her hair. However, the actress admitted that she was emotionally ready for the change.

Lathan explained that she had always had long hair, and it was a lot of effort always to have it flat ironed and blow-dried.

The "Love & Basketball" star revealed that many women of color had to wear wigs or weaves to secure roles in Hollywood. Although she said, that has changed, and more diversity is being accepted.

Recently, she expressed her support for the "Black Lives Matter" movement by showing off her gorgeous afro in a series of photos. In her caption, she wrote, "sending love and an afro."

In her location, she noted that she was "somewhere on earth," which appeared to be lounging around on her gray living room couch.

One fan praised Lathan for the progress she had made in keeping her natural hair and said, "your hair is growing back fast and lovely." Another person complimented her beauty and joked, "if Good Credit was a face."

Sending the love back to you, Queen, added another commenter. Her friend, Gabrielle Union, also shared her adoration for Lathan's beautiful selfies.

Lathan admitted to Entertainment Weekly that leading up to the scene where she shaved her head on "Nappily Ever After," it was an emotional moment that she eventually embraced, she

"It was terrifying, but like most terrifying things, once you jump, it turns out to be surprisingly great."

Lathan also shared that she kept her short hair, and for months as she regularly cut it because she found the look to be completely freeing from what she had been used to.

Since embracing her natural hair, she has learned a lot of techniques in how to maintain her natural curls, but still appreciating her wigs and weaves she wears on occasion.
