Any time you enter a wild place, you have to remember that you're entering something else's home, something much larger, that if given a chance, would probably eat you.

Hiking is an excellent pastime for thousands of people. It's the chance to get out into nature and explore the wild, but sometimes it's important to remember that you are not alone out there.

That's something a group of hikers found out after they decided to take an adventurous route into a forest, thankfully though, they decided to get a guide.

Before setting off on their hike, the guide let the group know that they were about to enter into grizzly bear territory, meaning that they would have to be extra careful.

The guide added that they needed to make sure that the bears were aware of them as the alternatives were much worse. He told them,

"Most bear encounters occur when hikers try to be extra quiet along the trails in hopes of viewing wildlife but they accidentally stumble into bears instead. The resulting surprise can be catastrophic."

The group was understandably concerned as while they wanted an adventure, encountering a grizzly bear was not something they were particularly keen to do.

However, the guide had a trick to make sure that the group stayed safe from wild animals, and he suggested that they all wear small bells on their clothing.

He asked their guide how they would identify the dropping.

He also told them to keep an eye out for signs of wildlife as they were walking as that would help them stay a safe distance from any dangerous animals.

In particular, he told his group to look out for any bear dropping in the area, which leads to one of the hikers asking him,

"How do you identify bear droppings?"

Laughing, the

looked at them and said, "Oh, that's easy!" The group confused asked him to elaborate on what he meant.

Still laughing, the guide told them, "well, it's the ones with all the tiny bells in them!"

What would you have done in the situation? Would you have continued with the hike or decided to call it a day? Or would you have laughed along with our brave guide?

One thing is for sure, the next time I'm in the woods, I'm definitely going to pay more attention to what is lurking in between the trees.
