Before Patrick Mahomes became the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League, he was already aware of the workings of being a professional athlete.

According to Heavy, Patrick’s father, Pat Mahomes Sr., was a baseball pitcher who played for many teams such as the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates, for 11 seasons.

While Patrick and Randi [Patrick's mother] appear to share a close bond, the former happens to have another special woman in his life — his long-time girlfriend, Brittany Matthews.

Despite his father’s prowess on the baseball field and his one-time stint on the baseball field, Patrick chose to follow his dreams to become a football player — even though he was offered money to play in Major League Baseball.

The quarterback’s football dreams almost came to an end as he wanted to quit the game just before he began high school. Luckily, he had the support of his mother, Randi Martin, who convinced him to have an extra go at the game.

Randi has remained proud of herself for encouraging her son to continue on the NFL path and has been known to gush about his progress, especially after he enjoyed a successful 2019.

Distractify reported that the mother of three proudly exclaimed that her 24-year-old son was blessed to be living the dream with his football career.

Cheat Sheet further highlighted that Randi disclosed her son has always held a soft spot for children — which contributed to him starting his charity organization known as "15 and the Mahomies."

While Patrick and Randi appear to share a close bond, the former happens to have another special woman in his life — his long-time girlfriend, Brittany Matthews. The pair, who reportedly began dating in high school, live together in Kansas City alongside their two dogs — Silver and Steel.

The Chiefs’ quarterback even took his girlfriend and mother along with him when he made it to the 2019 Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards (ESPY). According to Heavy, Patrick promised his mother that he would take her as his ESPY date if he were “ever invited.”

As for his parents, the site divulged that Randi and Pat Sr. divorced in 2006 when Patrick was only 11-years-old. Despite their separation, the former couple has remained on friendly terms and even show up at their son’s games whenever they can.
