Patti LaBelle Made Sure to Pay Tribute to Her Late Sister Jackie on Her Birthday through a Touching Post

Patti LaBelle paid tribute to her late sister, Jackie Holte on her birthday with a touching post that also included never before seen family pictures.

From the onset, Patti LaBelle appears to have it all with a career that has earned the title of a music legend. She is also referred to as the "queen of soul."

However, early in her career, she had endured several tragedies when she lost her sisters, Jackie and Vivian, to lung cancer. They were both in their 40s and died within two years of each other.

In 2015, LaBelle explained to PEOPLE, that losing her sisters prompted her to use her platform to get involved with the American Lung Association lung cancer initiative called "LUNG FORCE."

LaBelle shared her concern with the magazine about limited information circulating about lung cancer and the lack of knowledge about the high rates of the disease.

Recently, LaBelle paid tribute to Jackie, who died in 1989. The award-winning star reposted a birthday message from Jackie's daughter Stayce. In her caption, LaBelle wrote, "We love and miss you so much, and you are alive in our hearts forever!"

Stayce's heartfelt message expressed how much she missed Jackie. LaBelle's niece detailed all the things she loved about her mother, from her sarcasm, intelligence, and beautiful smile.

The emotional post included never before seen family photos of Jackie with various family members and friends. Stayce's words also touched on recent times as she admitted:

"I know you'd be able to help me tolerate some of this. I'm totally lost without you this year. but I'm glad you're not here to witness this madness!"

Fans joined LaBelle in sending Jackie well wishes on her birthday. One fan wrote, "Happy Heavenly Birthday, Jackie!"

Another person expressed their adoration for the post and wrote, "I have really really enjoyed looking through all these wonderful pics of the FAMILY." A family friend shared the details of a conversation she had with Stayce about her mother.

During an interview with ABC News, LaBelle revealed that she filmed the video for her song, "If You Asked Me To," a day after Jackie's funeral. The songstress explained that although she has her reservations about shooting the music video, focusing on her career was something LaBelle knew would honor her sister.

She also shared that butterflies remind her of Jackie because there was a yellow one she spotted at her funeral. LaBelle said every time she sees a butterfly; it makes her smile because she pictures Jackie.
