Ellen DeGeneres mourns her dog Wolf alongside wife Portia De Rossi with a throwback photo of them on their wedding day.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi lost their beloved dog Wolf on Wednesday night, and the show host took to social media to pay tribute to him.
As reported by ET Online, DeGeneres shared a heartwarming throwback photo of her and Portia on their wedding day with Wolf as they posed for a photo. The lovebirds look so in love as Portia held on to the cute pup while Ellen showered him with kisses.
In February, [Ellen DeGeneres] launched a new initiative called "Paws Up," which puts up photos of pets available for adoption on social media.
Alongside the image, Ellen thanked Wolf for bringing them "so much love and joy" and hoped that she and Rossi did the same for him. The tweet which garnered over 69,000 likes had numerous supportive and loving comments from Ellen's fans.
A user who was a pet bereavement counselor extended his condolences to Ellen and Portia and assured them that Wolf felt at home. Another fan echoed this truth, writing:
"Such a sweet picture of you all together with Wolf. He knows you all loved him so much. Wouldn't at all worry if that was ever in his thoughts."
Even the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) had nothing but kind words for the couple as they urged Ellen and Portia to seek solace in all their lovely memories of Wolf.
Other fans encouraged the pair to pay no attention to the trolls while sharing touching stories of their memories with a late pet. It is no news that the comedian is a die-hard lover of animals and is so passionate about their safety and well being.
CheatSheet notes that Ellen has a total of six pets, including the late Wolf which includes three dogs and three cats, who have a home in the bedroom she shares with Portia. Her love for animals has been something that has been with her since childhood, as she hoped to become a veterinarian in the future.
Although Ellen never became a veterinarian, that didn't stop her from helping animals in her own little way. People Magazine recalls that in February, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" host launched a new initiative called "Paws Up," which puts up photos of pets available for adoption on social media.
DeGeneres has been able to convince Meghan Markle and other stars to adopt a rescue animal, and there is no doubt she will have the same effect on her numerous fans.
