'Grey's Anatomy' Fans Recall a 5-Year-Old Episode That Is Relevant Now Amid COVID-19
Following the news that the COVID-19 pandemic will be featured in the next season of "Grey's Anatomy," fans of the show on Reddit have recalled an episode from five years ago that is relevant to today's happenings.
Some Reddit users have commented on the news that the story of the novel coronavirus pandemic would be told in the upcoming seventeenth season of long-running medical drama series, "Grey's Anatomy."
A few fans of the show recalled an episode, from five years ago, that bears significance with the current health crisis of today. In that episode, show characters George and Derek were quarantined.
Remembering the episode, a fan said he recalled the events of the particular episode, where George and Derek were quarantined for a few days before the start of lockdown, and remarked that it was an "eerie foreshadowing."
Another fan also said that he could recall from the episode how George was freaking out about the situation, while Derek remained mindless about it and even began raiding food from the lockers of interns. A fan commented, saying:
"Oh this is the next episode in my rewatch! I forgot about that lol."

On Tuesday, an executive producer of the drama series, Krista Vernoff announced plans to address the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on first responders in season 17.
Vernoff also said that it would not be good for a long-running show such as "Grey's Anatomy" not to tell the medical story of a lifetime.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the sixteenth season of the series to come to an early end.
Vernoff further revealed that the show's writers were working with real doctors to understand the impact the pandemic was having on the healthcare system and that most of the stories they told felt like therapy.
Following Vernoff's comments, some fans shared mixed feelings about it, with some saying that it was an opportunity for the show to address various issues as it had always done.
Some other fans expressed reservations about the development, saying it was too soon for the show to talk about the pandemic since the world was still battling with it.
With a 17th season of "Grey's Anatomy" sure to hit television screens, there are speculations about the end of the medical drama series, which has over 350 episodes.
However, while some fans continue to speculate and grow curious over when the show would come to an end, ABC hopes to see the series continuing beyond season 17 and remaining a part of its schedule.
In May 2019, "Grey's Anatomy" was renewed for two seasons, 16 and 17, meaning it would run until 2021. It now looks as though the show could be set for another renewal.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the sixteenth season of the series to come to an early end, falling short by a few episodes. The pandemic is also stalling production of season 17, though there are hopes that it would resume soon.
