See Fan Reactions to 'The Masked Singer's Emmy Nomination
The Television Academy has announced the nominees for this year's Emmys and among them is FOX's hit show, "The Masked Singer."
The hit show, "The Masked Singer" has just garnered FOX its first Competition Program nomination for the Emmys in years, amidst the controversy surrounding host Nick Cannon.
It remains to be seen if "The Masked Singer," now in its 4th season has the juice to contend with its fellow nominees in the category, "Nailed It," "Ru Paul's Drag Race," TopChef and "The Voice."
Cannon, who has proved to be a major asset to "The Masked Singer" was fired from ViacomCBS's "Wild 'N Out" comedy show, after he interviewed the notorious hip hop star, Professor Griff

FAN REACTIONS HINT AT WINNER
If the hundreds of responses from fans to the Television Academy's Twitter post is anything go by, the completion is stiff, and "The Masked Singer's" victory is far from guaranteed.
The runaway favorite with the fans who responded to the tweet is undoubtedly "RuPaul's Drag Race," with twelve seasons under its belt, with 4 consecutive wins for RuPaul as Best Host, 3 Best Competition Program Emmys for the show.
However, the other nominees are there for a reason, and "Nailed It" is another clear fan favorite, although "The Masked Singer" is running a close second to "RuPaul's Drag Race," as the fans' choice. This is good news for FOX, since the network has been dealing with controversy concerning host Nick Cannon.
THE NICK CANNON CONTROVERSY
Cannon, who has proved to be a major asset to "The Masked Singer" was fired from ViacomCBS's "Wild 'N Out" comedy show, after he interviewed the notorious hip hop star, Professor Griff. Griff is known for his antisemitic views which he aired on the "Cannon's Class" podcast.
What triggered Cannon's exit from "Wild 'N Out" was not Griff's always outrageous comments and conspiracy theories, but Cannon's apparent concordance with his views that Black people are the "true Hebrews" and accused "Jews" of working to keep African Americans "down" because they envied their status as God's true Chosen.
FOX STANDS BY NICK CANNON
Following the eruption of the scandal, after the podcast aired, Fox emitted a statement in which the network announced that it would not be firing Cannon and considered that he was truly remorseful for his disturbing contribution to the interview. Fox stated:
"He [Nick Cannon] is clear and remorseful that his words were wrong and lacked both understanding and context, and inadvertently promoted hate (...) taken steps to educate himself and make amends."
Rapper, actor and comedian Cannon is the ex-husband of pop diva Mariah Carrey, with whom he shares nine-year-old twins, daughter Monroe and son Moroccan. In 2017 Cannon welcomed a third child, son Golden with ex-girlfriend, model Brittany Bell.
