In 2002, Sharon Osbourne and her husband, Ozzy, adopted an eighteen-year-old boy, Robert Marcato, whose mother, Regan, died of colon cancer.

Born on November 21, 1983, in California, Marcato was a friend to the Osborne daughters, Kelly and Aimee, whom he met in school.

Although Sharon was also being treated for colon cancer at the time, she and her husband decided to take in Marcato. While speaking to the New York Post, Sharon noted that they were willing to pay for Marcato's college education. She said:

"He wants to go to drama school, and we're sending him to the best drama school we can find"

Marcato ended up attending acting school in 2004, and despite being dyslexic, he appears to have turned out great in school.

In addition to Marcato being friends with the Osbourne kids, his mother and Sharon were also friends and the host paid for Regan’s treatment during her last days.

Aimee also refused to have her visits filmed, and Sharon once reportedly admitted that the reality show put a distance between the daughter and the family.

While speaking about this, Sharon explained that when Regan got sick, she was not allowed to stay in the hospital and had no medical care at home. In a bid to care for her friend, the host hired private nurses who stayed with Regan every day until she died.

Sharon added that although doctors sometimes said Regan might die in the next couple of hours, she defied the odds and lived for nine days.

Since Sharon Osbourne and her husband adopted marcato, he has appeared as a main cast in the family's reality show, "The Osbournes."

The show, whose debut episode was released in March 2002, followed the famous family's story as they tried to navigate their day-to-day activities.

Although Sharon and Ozzy are parents to three children, Kelly, Aimee, and Jack, only Kelly and Jack appeared on the show.

While Kelly and Jack had no problem being in the spotlight, the oldest daughter, Aimee, was not comfortable having her life on camera. She moved out of the family home when she was just 16.

Aimee also refused to have her visits filmed, and Sharon once reportedly admitted that the reality show put a distance between the daughter and the family.

Despite avoiding the spotlight, Aimee reportedly now has a career as a singer and an actress. Well, maybe being in the spotlight is not so bad after all.
