As reported by People, Cowell had to undergo surgery that took five hours after landing on his back during the accident.

The injury is set to affect the filming of the first live show of "AGT," which was scheduled on Tuesday, just three days after the accident.

Before Cowell’s accident, the latter has been very cautious about going out amid the ongoing pandemic crisis.

The filming was to take place at the Universal Studios in Universal City, California. The show’s 15th season has been resuming production after delays caused by the pandemic.

According to People, Cowell will not participate anymore in the August 11 and August 12 episodes as his serious fall needed him more time to recover.

Cowell has been a resident judge in the famous talent competition. His presence as judge has been highly-anticipated not only by the audiences but also the show's contestants.

Cowell’s last appearance in the show was in July, wherein he was blown away by a trick from magician and mentalist Max Major during the "Judge Cuts" episode. Major’s episode marked the first episode filmed during the pandemic.

Major’s trick left other judges, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Heidi Klum speechless. They were impressed by how the contestant worked his own magic.

Major tailored his tricks in a way that will involve Cowell, who requested the contestant that he be a part of his next tricks.

Vergara, meanwhile, posted a photo on Instagram showing Cowell’s empty chair. The "Modern Family" actress said that she wishes for Cowell's fast recovery. She wrote:

“We miss our boss!! Come back fast @simoncowell!!? ?”

Before Cowell’s accident, the latter has been very cautious about going out amid the ongoing pandemic crisis. As reported by the Sun, Cowell was spotted in June heading back to work in Los Angeles while wearing a facemask.

Aside from being a famous judge and music producer, Cowell is known for his dating history. He dated a long list of popular female celebrities were smitten by his charm.

Among the female TV personalities he dated were Paula Hamilton, Jackie St. Claire, and Carmen Electra.
