Man Didn't Take His Wife's Side after She Took His Daughter's Diary

A man has found himself in a dilemma after he refused to take his wife’s side after she took his daughter’s diary and read it.

The dynamics of a stepchild and stepparent relationship are often challenging for the parent or spouse who plays the middle person.

There is always the boding fear of losing someone, especially if both parties don’t get along. This was the case of this frustrated man who took to Reddit to tell his story.

The 38-year-old recently walked down the aisle with his wife Nora, five months ago. He has a 12-year-old daughter Madison, from a previous marriage and she lives with them.

A similar story is that of a woman who is not sure how to help the strained relationship between her daughters and their stepmother.

Unfortunately, his wife and daughter don’t see eye to eye. He explained that they have a constant tension between them, however, Madison has managed to be respectful.

According to him, Madison always keeps to herself and has a diary where she writes down her thoughts and everything that bothers her, without the fear of anyone stumbling on it.

He understands her reasons for having a diary and respects her choice, but his wife doesn’t agree. One day while at work, he got a distress call from his daughter who was crying.

She told him that Nora had stolen her diary and read through it and is now refusing to return it. He rushed home immediately and found them yelling at each other.

He asked them what had happened and Madison said that her stepmom went into her room, snooped around and took her diary, and now doesn’t want to give it back. Nora, however, denied the accusation, saying she knew nothing about it.

He asked his teenager to confirm her allegations as he suspected that she must have misplaced it somewhere and is blaming her stepmom for it. but the teenager insisted that Nora took it.

Not sure who to believe, the poster began looking for the diary. After a frantic search, he finally found it in the bedroom he shared with Nora. He was shocked that Madison was right but when he returned it to her, he lied about where he found it.

Later in the day, he secretly confronted Nora about stealing the diary and she broke down in tears. She accused the poster of not supporting and comforting her after all the horrible things she read about herself in Madison’s diary.

Still, he maintained that she was wrong for taking his daughter’s private property but she got even angrier, saying he failed to protect her from hate in the home.

He walked away from the room, leaving Nora by herself and went to get a box for Madison to help keep her things. Now, Madison and Nora aren’t talking to each other and he is not sure if he handled the situation properly.
