Hollywood couple Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos had no choice but to make the most of their family vacation turned quarantine zone where they had to wait out the order to shelter in place.

As inconvenient and unsettling as it may have been, it didn't stop Mark Consuelos from taking a positive from the otherwise dreadfully sad situation. During a recent chat with Bruce Bozzi on "Radio Andy," Consuelos shared his experience.

QUARANTINE CARIBBEAN STYLE

When Consuelos, along with his wife Kelly Ripa and their three children, headed to their holiday house in the Caribbean, they had no idea that the planned two weeks would turn into months.

They went on spring break right before orders to shelter in place took effect, and the family couldn't get out and back to the US in time, as Ripa previously said:

"We arrive and three days later, the entire world changed, really. I mean, everything shut down; the government shut down; our country shut down."

Ripa confirmed that by the time this happened, their three children, Michael, 22, Lola, 18, and Joaquin, 17, were with them.

THE SILVER LINING

Consuelos and Ripa's kids are already grown up, with their youngest Joaquin now 17. Lola already turned 18, and Michael is already 22. They are at the age where they are spreading their wings into the world, so it meant the world to Consuelos to have quality time with his children and reconnect.

Without the distractions of work and apart from helping homeless children amid the pandemic, Consuelos said that it became a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend three months with his family on a deeper level and added:

"You kind of access where you are with your relationship when you have to spend this much time together. And we really like each other, which is great."

BRAIN SEXY

The time in quarantine also reminded Consuelos of one of the reasons he loves Ripa so much - her super sexy brain and nose for business.

The couple has a project in the works called "Mexican Gothic," and Consuelos said that the wheels on the project started turning when she read the novel written by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

Consuelos referred to Ripa as a "voracious" reader, and after she read the book, she kept checking on rights to the story until a bidding war over it erupted. Ripa then contacted the writer and shared her view for a show, which now will be made by the couple and with Hulu.

The longtime lovebirds returned from the Caribbean in the meantime, and Kelly Ripa shared how it felt being apart from Consuelos after they spent months together in self-isolation.

In a new episode of her talk show with Ryan Seacrest, "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Ripa said that all the time with him now has her miss him very much. Consuelos is already quarantining in Vancouver, Canada, for an upcoming project.
