"✨ 20 years today ✨ #AlmostFamous."
The hit movie was released on 13 September 2000. It was about a 15-year-old William Miller (played by actor Patrick Fugit), who had landed a life-changing opportunity to escort a popular band on tour.
Hudson had played the role of Peggy Lane, while Deschanel had taken the part of Anita Miller, William's older sister.
The film got nominated for and won many awards the following year.
In an old interview with Hudson back when the movie was made, she disclosed that she had been so excited to be a part of the movie. The root of her enthusiasm had been the idea of working with director Cameron Crowe.
The then 21-year-old said she would have been more than happy to play an extra, but she eventually got the role of Peggy Lane, which had been a significant career boost for then-young actress.
Besides being beautifully written, the actresses had given such remarkable performances that the film got nominated for and won many awards the following year. Hudson and Crowe had been recipients of many.
The film had also set other actors, such as Jimmy Fallon, Rain Willson, Billy Crudup, and many others, on the path to stardom. It had reportedly been a turning point for the stars and helped launch their careers.
Over the years, the actors continued to flourish and remain in the limelight. Hudson, Deschanel, and Crowe continued to give award-winning performances while Fallon went on to become a household name.
No doubt, the hit film "Almost Famous" had been a notable hit in the lives of the stars. It had certainly transformed them from being "almost famous" to forever famous.
