Steve Martin Jokes about Being Recognized While Wearing a Mask Amid the Pandemic

Steve Martin has clearly not lost his touch when it comes to jokes. The actor and comedian recently shared a hilarious post of himself trying to get recognized while wearing a face mask.

Most people are wearing face masks in the effort to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease. Steve Martin recently shared a photo of himself on Twitter showing him wearing a face mask.

However, the actor also wore black sunglasses and stuck a board on top of his head. The board had a white paper over it and the words “Steve Martin” plus a blue arrow pointing down to his head.

STEVE’S RECOGNITION STRATEGY

In the caption of the post, the star explained why he’d created the contraption writing: “I always wear a mask when I go outside.” He noted how something about wearing it left him feeling unsettled and anxious.

Martin further explained that he’d thought about and finally addressed it with the cardboard cutout on his head. A fan commented on the post hilariously stating:

"This really clears up the confusion.”

WANTING PEOPLE TO RECOGNIZE HIM

The star clearly had an issue with people not knowing who he was under that mask. We doubt his solution will catch on with other celebrities though.

One person who is an advocate for wearing a face mask is actress Jennifer Aniston.

“Daily Mail” drove the point across in an article where they noted how inconspicuous celebrities looked while wearing face masks. The problem became even worse, especially for tabloids, when the stars chose to wear sunglasses as well.

CELEBRITIES IN MASKS

The publications shared several images of celebrities taken in public and asked readers to guess who they were. One of the images was of “America’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell.

He was easily recognizable by the shape of his head and his unique hairstyle. We also recognized Harry Styles from One Direction who wore a sweater with a hoodie, a face mask, and sunglasses.

DEBATE OVER FACE MASKS

Whether or not to wear a face mask has been a big debate since COVID-19 landed in the US. Some people don’t want to wear one as they believe it encroaches on their freedom of choice.

ANISTON VOUCHES FOR MASKS

However, one person who is an advocate for wearing one is actress Jennifer Aniston. In July 2020, she took to Instagram to share a photo of herself sporting the protective item and pleaded with people to do the same in the caption of her post.
