Serena Williams has been known in the world of sports for her phenomenal skills as a tennis player and achievement record worthy of the highest praise. Although the star had to sit out the French Open, she is still excited about her favorite things in the country.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles winner revealed her favorite things about France in an interview carried out at the 2020 French Open, also known as the Roland Garros tournament, after she opted out of the competition.

Even though she had been limping due to the injury, Williams successfully won her opening match at Roland Garros but decided to pull out.

During the interview, Williams divulged interesting information about herself such as the fact that her favorite place in France included anywhere with a restaurant where she could enjoy her love for African food and wine.

According to the mother-of-one, her favorite French expression is "C'est la vie" which means "such is life," while her favorite tournament is in fact Roland Garros.

However, the athlete unfortunately had to pull out of the tournament due to an Achilles injury she sustained prior to the event. The Olympic gold medalist after qualifying for the semifinals of the US Open earlier in September had been aiming to win her 24th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros.

The French Open had not been in the 39-year-old's favor from the start. The tournament officials prevented the participants from living outside of their recommended hotels.

This came as a disappointment to Williams who had encountered health problems after the birth of her daughter, Olympia in 2017 and preferred private living quarters due to her medical record.

Speaking about her adorable daughter Olympia, the proud mother has shared the little girl's growth with fans on social media with various priceless pictures and videos that were enough to make anyone fall in love with the three-year-old.

This year was filled with such wonderful moments like the video Williams uploaded of the pair as they carried out their morning skincare routine and there was a tender scene when the mother spoke French to her daughter.

The athlete has been teaching Olympia to speak French ever since she was a baby. Fans may recall a hilarious video Williams shared of 11-month-old Olympia where the mother asked her to "wash her hands" in French but the toddler did it with the dog water on the floor.

Aside from her French skills, Olympia has been winning hearts with cute videos of herself helping her mother out in the kitchen or showing off her tennis skills.
