The Genetic Lottery

Everly appeared noticeably taller and older than many fans remembered. Commenters quickly flooded the post with reactions about how grown-up she looks and which of her famous parents she resembles.

Where It All Began

The buzz surrounding Everly's appearance has reignited nostalgia for the 2006 film "Step Up." It was on that set where her parents first met and displayed the insane chemistry that fans still talk about today.

Channing and Dewan wed in 2009 and announced the pregnancy in December 2012. They officially became parents for the first time when they welcomed Everly on May 31, 2013, in London. At the time, the world was thrilled for the couple, who were considered Hollywood royalty.

Their marriage ended in 2018, but both parents remained vocal about putting their daughter first. "We're in a very positive energy together, trying to be the best parents to Everly," Dewan told Harper's Bazaar that same year. "We support each other."

The Single Dad Journey

Channing has been equally open about the impact fatherhood has had on him. In 2020, he dedicated his children's book "The One and Only Sparkella" to Everly with the words: "To Everly, the most brilliant magical being that I have ever known. You are my greatest teacher."

The book, published in 2021, was directly inspired by a moment he witnessed with his then-7-year-old daughter. Everly had been reluctant to wear one of her favorite outfits — a watermelon cape — to preschool, telling him she didn't want to get made fun of. That small moment became the emotional core of the story.

He also got candid about the learning curve of single fatherhood. "I was really nervous when I became a single dad, and having to raise a little girl, not being able to have the resource of a woman there," he said. "I literally went to YouTube and learned how to braid hair."

The Man Behind the Resemblance Had a Rough February

The man fans were busy spotting in Everly's features recently had a difficult start to the year. On February 3, 2026, the 45-year-old actor shared a black-and-white image from a hospital room, showing him lying in a gown, connected to monitors and surrounded by medical equipment.

The post, shared on his Instagram, offered little clarity but plenty of tension. "Just another day. Another challenge. This one is gonna be hard. But whatever. Let's get it in," Tatum wrote, hinting at a serious setback without naming it.

Netizens quickly filled the comments with concern and support. One wrote, "Hope you are okay. 💖 Sending you love & positive vibes." Another asked, "Channing what happened?!" A third added, "You got this. Overcoming obstacles is your superpower. Sending you so much love and thinking of you always. Speedy recovery 💙"

The answers came later. In subsequent Instagram Stories, Tatum shared X-ray images outlining the injury and its surgical treatment, clarifying that his hospital stay was related to a separated shoulder that required medical intervention.

At this time, Tatum has not shared details about how the injury occurred or how long his recovery may take.

The injury update followed a March 2025 Instagram post in which Tatum discussed the physical demands his film roles had placed on his body. "We back up! lol," he wrote in the caption, before explaining the weight changes shown in the images.

One photo showed Tatum at 172 pounds while preparing for "Roofman," highlighting a leaner physical transformation required for the part.

Another black-and-white mirror selfie captured Tatum at 235 pounds, with a fuller, bulkier build that marked his physical transformation for the film "Josephine."

He added that his current weight was 205 pounds at the time of posting. Reflecting on the process, Tatum thanked his chef, nutritionist, and trainer for helping him manage the drastic shifts. "I couldn't make these big swings in my weight without you guys," he said.

He also added that he plans to avoid similar "fat roles" in the future. "It's to hard on the body and to hard to take off now. But [expletive] when i look at these pics it's just wild what the human body and will can do [sic]," he added.

Tatum's hospital and wellness update comes after an earlier Instagram post sparked strong reactions for very different reasons.

As previously reported, one photo was all it took to send fans into a frenzy. He shared a sleek, stylized portrait from last year, but instead of universal praise, the comments quickly turned into a debate about his appearance. Some fans barely recognized him at all.

"Whats [sic] happening!?!? Something is soooo wrong," one commenter wrote under the post, while another bluntly added, “Botox.” A third echoed the confusion, saying, "Im [sic] not sure of that face! Doesn't look like him," capturing the overall tone of surprise.

Others rushed in with a more protective stance. "You look good as you are right now. No more fillers or alterations. Please," one fan pleaded, referencing his earlier movie days and urging him to keep things natural.

The post in question came from Tatum's Instagram, where he described the image as one of his favorites from last year. The photo was taken by Adrian Martin for Tiffany & Co. and the Academy Museum Gala — polished, dramatic, and undeniably different from his usual red carpet look.

That difference fueled the chatter. Over the years, fans watched Channing Tatum's face evolve — from early-2000s heartthrob to rugged leading man — and this post marked a sharp detour.

Looking back at his public appearances only added to the contrast. Still, not everyone was critical.

Compliments poured in, too, with fans calling him "strong," "awake," and undeniably magnetic. Love it or question it, the photo did exactly what viral images do best: get people talking.

Judging by the reaction at the time, fans continued dissecting the image from every angle. Scroll down to see the images. The photos spoke for themselves.
