Here's What Cameron Boyce's Parents Think about Skai Jackson's DWTS Tribute to Their Son

Skai Jackson took the time to pay tribute to late actor Cameron Boyce on a recent episode of “Dancing with the Stars.” Boyce’s parents have since reacted positively to the tribute.

On Monday, October 5, 2020, Skai Jackson, 18, dedicated her “Dancing with the Stars (DWTS)” performance to former co-star Cameron Boyce. She described the late actor as a "really close friend."

On Disney Channel’s comedy series, “Jessie,” Jackson played the role of Zuri Ross. Boyce appeared as Luke Ross on the show from its inception in 2011 until it ended in 2015.

SKAI HONORS CAMERON

On DWTS, Jackson and her professional dance partner, Alan Bersten, took to the stage to perform the foxtrot. Their dance routine was performed to John Legend’s "Ordinary People."

While reflecting on her relationship with Boyce, Jackson noted how she’d met him on “Jessie.”

The actress’s performance was a hit with the judges and earned her the very first 10 score for season 29. She received a 10 from judge Carrie Ann Inaba and two 9’s from judges Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.

JACKSON’S DANCE SCORE

Jackson managed to win a total score of 28/30 and revealed to the show’s host, Tyra Banks, that she hoped she made Boyce proud. The star tearfully explained why she was honoring the late star stating:

"He was someone that was really important to me and he's part of why I did the show.”

BOYCE’S PARENTS MOVED

Boyce’s parents were moved by the dedication to their late son and spoke about it recently. During an appearance on “People’s” television show, the late actor's mother, Libby Boyce, said:

"For Skai to have the opportunity to share her love of Cameron in that way was just really special and touching.”

BOYCE’S DAD SPEAKS

Boyce’s father, Victor Boyce, noted how beautiful Jackson had looked during her dance routine. He revealed that he’d known her since she was seven and shared that she had always been talented.

Victor also shared how, as a young woman now, Jackson was able to project grace which was heartfelt. The parents, who are still mourning, have since honored their son by creating the Cameron Boyce Foundation.

WHAT CAMERON TAUGHT SKAI

Before her performance, Jackson shared how Boyce had taught her a lot of things before he died. She revealed that he’d taught her to be a kind person, stay motivated, and to keep trying harder.

Her words comforted the late actor’s parents. Boyce sadly passed away on July 6, 2019, at the age of 20 after suffering a seizure while sleeping and experiencing complications.

WHERE SKAI MET CAMERON

While reflecting on her relationship with Boyce, Jackson noted how she’d met him on “Jessie.” From there onward, the pair built a solid bond over the years and remained close friends.

The actress described him as more like a big brother figure to her. The late actor’s parents appeared on "The Doctors" in January 2020, where they shared about their son’s death to raise awareness about sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP).
