First, he thanked his wife, Trisha Yearwood, with whom he has been married for fifteen years, tagging her as the love of his life. Next, the singer paid tribute to his three daughters, Allie, August, and Taylor.

Showing he was a girl dad, Brooks vowed to love his girls for the rest of his life. He thanked his fans, who have always filled the stands in his shows, thanking them for his life.

His decision was due to the CMA’s reluctance to grant him the Entertainer of the Year Emeritus status.

While performing “Friends in Low Places,” he called out to the auditorium of the Awards venue, Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater, even though it was empty, showing great optimism as he said he wanted to hear them sing it.

The singer ended his performance with the song, “The Dance.” Brooks received his award from the “Goddess of Pop,” Cher, joining her, Mariah Carey, and Janet Jackson as recipients of the prestigious awards.

In gratitude to her for bestowing him with such an honor, Brooks thanked her, saying receiving the award from Cher made him feel cool, which is not a word he would use to describe himself.

Singer Cher also paid tribute to Brooks, describing him as her friend and a true music legend, saying he brought energy and the latest production to his performance.

Billboard Music Awards also paid tribute to Brooks on their official Instagram page, saying the singer showed up in his boots to prove precisely why he is an icon.

Brooks has won so many awards in his illustrious career. He has won so many of them that he removed himself from contention for the Entertainer of the Year award for all upcoming Country Music Association Awards.

Brooks, who has won the award a record-breaking seven times, said his decision was due to the CMA’s reluctance to grant him the Entertainer of the Year Emeritus status.

The singer, who last won the award in 2019, said he did not want to seem ungrateful to the CMAs and fans who had voted for him. Hence, he decided to pull out of the awards to give room for somebody else to win it — a grand gesture from a true icon.
