In celebration of the 26th anniversary of the hit movie, "The Shawshank Redemption," Morgan Freeman took to his Instagram to thank fans who made the film a success and shared his favorite quote from the film.
26 years after the release of "The Shawshank Redemption," legendary actor Morgan Freeman thanked fans for receiving the movie with open arms, making it one of the most loved films of all time despite the little box office success it had.
Freeman shared a picture from a scene in the movie as he celebrated the anniversary. The film was released on September 23, 1994, in the United States and ranked as the highest-rated IMDb film of all time.

Freeman played the role of "Red," a contraband smuggler who befriends a prisoner, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), who was wrongly convicted for the murder of his wife and her lover.
Although "The Shawshank Redemption" received many award nominations, it did not win any. Taking to his Instagram, the 83-year-old veteran requested his followers to share their favorite quotes from the movie while he shared his. Freeman wrote alongside the post:
"[...]I'm still thankful to everyone who made our box office flop one of the most beloved movies of all time."
