Samuel L Jackson Admits He Doesn't Remember Proposing to His Wife after 40 Years of Marriage

In a chat with Graham Norton, actor Samuel L. Jackson and his wife LaTanya try to recall the time Samuel proposed to her, but he jokingly feigned ignorance about that time of their lives.

Samuel L. Jackson and his wife of 40 years LaTanya had a virtual chat with Graham Norton of the “Graham Norton Show.” The show however started on an interesting note thanks to Norton's surprise question.

During the chat, Norton who wanted to confirm certain things about Samuel and LaTanya's marriage asked the actor to confirm that he never proposed to LaTanya; a question which took Samuel and his bride by surprise.

LaTanya who was sitting comfortably beside her husband turned to him with curious eyes and admitted that she just like Norton was interested in hearing his side of the story. Shocked at the allegation, Samuel said:

“I don’t remember it actually… I do recall you having some invitations in your hand, saying this was when this was happening…”

Laughing at Samuel’s recollection of events, LaTanya proceeded to set the record straight. She revealed that she had approached Samuel and told him that her grandfather was very ill, and they needed to get things moving so he could walk her down the aisle.

She added that because she was the last grandchild, her grandfather had been concerned that she and Samuel were not married at the time. LaTanya further explained that she made Samuel ask her grandfather first before coming to propose to her.

LaTanya and Samuel have found the dynamics of what makes their marriage work.

After revealing the details of what led to the proposal, she turned to Samuel to confirm the story and he jokingly feigned ignorance by asking if things had actually panned out the way she said it because he could not remember.

The banter between LaTanya and Samuel elicited peals of laughter from the audience, and the co-hosts as everyone could not keep a straight face while they argued back and forth.

Samuel later admitted that he had gotten down on one knee to propose, and the proposal was actually quite romantic. While LaTanya tried to counter him, she eventually gave up as Samuel kept goofing around.

Samuel and LaTanya have been married for 40 years, but the pair have been together for almost 50 years. They first met when they were in college, with Samuel attending the famous Morehouse College in Atlanta while LaTanya attended Spelman College.

Although he studied marine biology in school, Samuel developed a passion for acting. Interestingly, LaTanya studied theater arts. The pair did not hit it off at first, but they became friends over time and were comfortable around each other.

While being married for 40 years might seem like a long time for most people, for LaTanya and Samuel, they are not done dancing as they look forward to spending many more years together.

Blessed with one child, Zoe, LaTanya and Samuel have found the dynamics of what makes their marriage work and for them, it is putting the Lord at the center of it all while resting and drawing strength from each other.
