Here's What Would Have Happened to Jeannie Mai's Throat If She Hadn't Been Hospitalized in Time
“The Real” co-host Jeannie Mai recently made headlines after stepping out from “Dancing with the Stars” following a potentially life-threatening condition.
ABC and Jeannie herself shared the sad news on November 2. The TV personality uploaded a photo from her hospital bed, revealing that she had made it out safely from her emergency surgery.
She thanked her doctors for identifying what could have been a life-threatening condition and admitted to being devastated about leaving “DWTS.”

JEANNIE MAI’S THROAT ABSCESS
Jeannie also apologized to her dance partner Brandon Armstrong and urged her followers to watch the show and root for their favorite couple. About her condition, Jeannie wrote:
“What simply started as a sore throat had unbeknownst to me become a dangerous infection that already closed at least 60% of my airway.”
She shared more details of her condition in a video that the official YouTube channel of “Dancing with the Stars” uploaded on November 2, mainly focusing on Jeannie’s journey on the show.
From her hospital bed, the TV personality failed to hold back her tears after saying that her time on the show had ended.
Jeannie explained that her infection started permeating to the areas behind her neck and ears, and that’s why she had to undergo emergency surgery.
After that, “The Real” co-host appeared lying on the hospital bed shortly after the medical procedure. Jeannie's partner Jeezy was next to her holding her hand and kissing her.

ONE MORE DAY, AND THINGS WOULD’VE COMPLICATED MORE
Although the doctor was not pictured, he could be heard telling Jeannie that she was out of danger already, but if she had waited one more day, her “throat would have closed up.”
Then, the video showed Jeannie and Brandon’s evolution throughout the show, and, reaching the end, the TV personality admitted that “DWTS” was one of the best journeys of her life.
Speaking of Brandon Armstrong, he took to social media to wish his former dance partner a speedy recovery. He wrote that she didn’t deserve what happened to her and added that her time on the show was unique and inspiring.
Finally, the professional dancer thanked Jeannie for giving him “such an amazing season” and hoped he helped in giving her an unforgettable experience.
