Earlier this week, rapper Jeezy, who is currently dating TV show host Jeannie Mai, made a virtual appearance on "The Real." There, he gave a health update on the TV personality.

As Jeezy explained, Mai had been doing pretty well, although there was still some difficulty getting her to rest as much as she needs.

The rapper explained that Mai was diagnosed with epiglottitis – a throat condition that occurs when the epiglottis swells. The condition eventually blocks the flow of air into the patient's lungs.

He explained that she had initially begun to feel pretty sick, but they believed that everything was fine after one trip to the doctor. Sadly, this was not to be. In part, Jeezy said:

"It happened again, and I just started to notice she was having problems breathing… I grabbed her immediately, took her to the emergency room."

At the hospital, the doctors found something but they didn't know what it was. The rapper explained that a friend recommended another doctor for them, and they consulted with him. Immediately, the new doctor recommended that she get surgery immediately.

While things were dire for a moment, Mai is now on the mend and is making a full recovery.

The second doctor was definitely right. Sources reveal that epiglottitis is a life-threatening situation, and things could have become much worse for Mai. It is unclear how long Mai had been dealing with breathing issues.

However, fans only got to know about her condition last month. The TV show host, who was competing on "Dancing With the Stars" unfortunately had to withdraw from the competition for health issues.

It was later revealed that she had undergone surgery on her throat for the life-threatening situation. While things were dire for a moment, Mai is now on the mend and is making a full recovery.

Speaking on "The Real," Jeezy explained that the period was pretty scary for him. The rapper pointed out that Mai has always been a fighter and that she was trying her best to get to work as quickly as possible.

Earlier this month, Mai shared a picture on social media, telling her fans that she was feeling much better and in recovery. The TV personality added that she was thankful for Dr. Nasseri, the doctor who helped save her life and the opportunity to take a break.

However, she also expressed sadness over having to leave "Dancing With the Stars." While fans are sad that she would not be competing on the show anymore, the fact that Mai is getting better is encouragement enough.
