Rihanna has a complicated relationship with her father but a tight, warm bond with her mother. Take a glimpse at the music icon’s relationship with her parents.

Feeling betrayed, "We Found Love" songstress Rihanna once sued her father, Ronald Fenty, for allegedly using her name fraudulently to make money.

The singer also sued her father’s business partner Moses Perkins for allegedly misrepresenting her affiliation with their company.

In 2017, Perkins and Ronald launched a production and talent company called Fenty Entertainment. During the same year, Rihanna also unveiled her Fenty Beauty line of cosmetics. The singer’s complaint read:

“Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna's father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna's behalf...”

Her father and his business partner also allegedly entered into deals using her name without her knowledge, including a $15 million deal for her to perform 15 shows in Latin America.

Back in 2009, Rihanna’s father also allegedly exploited her suffering when her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown assaulted her by selling information to the media.

It broke the acclaimed singer’s heart to have a family member using her for profit. She said that her father went straight to the press to make money instead of checking in on her after the incident.

It seems that father and daughter have patched things up. In April 2020, Ronald said that the "Umbrella" hitmaker was checking in on him every day after he contracted the coronavirus.

The pop star, who shot to stardom at 17 years old with the release of her song “Pon de Replay” in 2005, reportedly brought a ventilator and shipped it to Ronald in their homeland Barbados.

Her father, who battled drug addiction, had a turbulent marriage with her mother, Monica Braithwaite. They divorced when Rihanna, who was born on the Caribbean island of Barbados, was a teenager.

Monica once took the stage at the American Music Awards to present her daughter with the Icon Award.

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s relationship with her mom has been nothing but loving and warm. The "Diamonds" hitmaker once opened up about how her mother, Monica Braithwaite, has taught her the values of love, forgiveness, and hard work.

Monica once took the stage at the American Music Awards to present her daughter with the Icon Award. She was also with the singer at a benefit party for emergency response.

In 2012, Rihanna, a successful entrepreneur, surprised her mother with an extravagant gift: a new luxury five-bedroom mansion in Barbados during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Aside from her dominance in the music scene, Rihanna has been vocal about social issues. In 2018, Rihanna showed her support to NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick by declining an invitation to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. Kaepernick is known for his advocacy against racism in America.
