Jack Pratt Faced Health Issues as a Baby — Facts about Chris Pratt's Firstborn Child
Talented actor Chris Pratt's son, Jack, was born nine weeks premature and spent a month in intensive care before going home. Here is all you need to know about Jack Pratt.
Bringing a child to the world comes with great responsibility and is often described as the most rewarding experience for any couple. More importantly, it can be a very uniting force!
Chris Pratt and his ex-wife Anna Faris were thrilled when they became pregnant with their first child. However, things took a nervy turn when Faris's water broke just 30 weeks into her pregnancy.

JACK IS BORN PREMATURE
Anna Faris was already 35 when she was pregnant with her first child, which made it a geriatric pregnancy. However, after a complication-free start, it seemed like things would go on smoothly until her water broke just 30 weeks into the pregnancy.
Earlier in the year, the talented actress confirmed she was engaged to cinematographer Michael Barrett. The two reportedly began dating in September 2017.
The 43-year-old actress was immediately put on bed rest in the hospital, and a week later, she went into labor. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris' son was born nine weeks premature and spent the first month of his life in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Those were challenging times for the former couple, and Faris explained she felt frustrated she could not do anything to help her baby boy. In her words:
"For the next four weeks, I spent all day there, pumping milk for my baby until my nipples were bleeding and blistered, because it felt like the only thing I could do to help him."
During that time, the pediatric neurosurgeon informed Pratt and Faris that their son had suffered some severe brain bleeding, and there was a chance that he could have a developmental disability.
And to make matters worse for the one-time couple, doctors claimed they would not know for sure until their baby boy reached 18 months of age. The next few months were testing for them, but they finally got answers.
JACK PRATT'S HEALTH ISSUES
After months of nervous waiting, Faris and Chris finally got some much-needed good news. Jack's development was certified to be at par with most children his age, which meant his parents had no reason to be worried.
Despite the good news, Jack's premature birth still left him with some physical limitations, which could be remedied in the long-term. Apart from his limited vision and having some problems with his leg muscles, Jack seems to be in good health.
Although Jack is doing great and enjoying his childhood, he had to come through the wire. While speaking about Jack's health issues during the early days, Faris revealed:
"Jack had a few surgeries. He had a few hernia surgeries, he's had a few eye surgeries, and he had a little heart issue as well."
Jack seems to have put his health problems behind and is growing up like a normal kid and thankfully, he has not one but two incredibly famous parents doting on him.
FARIS AND CHRIS AS PARENTS
As soon as their son came home to them, Faris and Chris showed themselves to be incredibly doting parents. Despite their busy schedules, the two actors made sure they put their son's needs before any other thing.
Since becoming a mom, the blond bombshell has been very candid about her motherhood experience. The mother of one regularly shares the ups and downs she faces while raising her son and also drops helpful parenting tips in her "Unqualified" podcast.
Chris is also a hands-on dad, and despite his sometimes-hectic working schedule, he is still very involved in his son's upbringing. Over the last few years, their wonderful father-son relationship has been a joy to watch for many. In a 2016 interview, Faris admitted that much about her ex-husband when she said:
"He's strict, but he's also incredibly fun, incredibly loving. It's so amazing to see that moment that Chris comes home from work and Jack is like, 'Daddy!'"
In August 2017, Chris and Faris stunned their fans when they announced their split — barely five years after welcoming their son, Jack. They eventually filed for divorce in December 2017, citing irreconcilable differences.
Despite their split, Faris and Chris have worked very hard to maintain a very cordial relationship for the sake of their son. They are even taking extra measures to ensure they have an excellent co-parenting relationship.
Court documents obtained after their divorce was finalized in November 2018 revealed that neither of them requested spousal or child support apart from agreeing to joint custody. They also decided to live close to each other until Jack is in the sixth grade.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
After his marriage to Anna Faris, Chris Pratt began dating legendary actor Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger, in June 2018.
The couple got engaged in January 2019 and tied the knot later that year in Montecito, California. In August 2020, Chris and Katherine welcomed their first child together, daughter Lyla Maria.
Faris, on her part, seems to be edging closer to getting married for the third time. Earlier in the year, the talented actress confirmed she was engaged to cinematographer Michael Barrett. The two reportedly began dating in September 2017, after meeting while filming "Overboard."

Before her marriage to Chris, Anna Faris was married to actor Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008. In 2009 at a small wedding ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, she later got married to Chris after eloping together.
Faris and Chris may have ended their 9-year marriage, but they will forever be connected through their son, Jack. And for now, they seem to be acing their co-parenting duties.
