In a popular forum, a woman asked if she was wrong because she didn't want to give her wedding dress to her mother-in-law. But there seemed to be so much more to the story.

On Reddit, the woman shared that she married her husband in 2017 regardless of seeing many red flags in his family, especially her mother-in-law, who was always critical of her.

The Reddit poster explained that her husband's mother was constantly making passive-aggressive remarks about how she kept her house, her career choice, and more.

Her husband is very fond of his mother, which is why she thought she should just bite her tongue and not put him in a situation where he had to choose between her and his mom.

When he was seven, his father passed away, and since then his mother has had many relationships despite her son's repeated pleas for her to settle down.

Eventually, she met a nice man, and they got engaged. The woman said that the two were engaged for another two years before deciding on a wedding date.

Shortly after the wedding date was set, her mother-in-law invited her to dinner. When she was there, her mother-in-law asked her if she would be willing to lend her her wedding dress for her wedding.

The woman said she was shocked. "My wedding dress was made custom from a very nice designer," she wrote, "and it had been my dream dress for as long as I could remember."

In the middle of the restaurant, her mother-in-law threw a fit.

The wedding dress was paid for entirely by her and her mother. In fact, she said, except for $200 towards their honeymoon, her mother-in-law didn't make any contributions to their wedding.

"I gave her a polite 'no,' and explained to her that that dress was very sentimental to me and I would feel uncomfortable having someone else wear it," she wrote.

In the middle of the restaurant, her mother-in-law threw a fit. She told her she wished her son had married someone who was more grateful than she was.

The woman said she left dinner and went home to tell her husband. To her surprise, he took his mother's side. He tried to convince her that she would have no use for the dress anymore.

She then called her mother, who was furious. Her mother called her mother-in-law and blasted her for demanding that too and explained to her what extra shifts she had to pick up for just that dress.

After what happened, she said that her mother-in-law had since disinvited both her and her mother from the wedding. She admitted that she feels as though she is going crazy.

In another post on Reddit, a woman shared her problem with her beau, who starts demanding to know how much savings she has. But she told him that it is none of his business.
