Valerie Bertinelli Tears up While Discussing Late Ex-husband Eddie Van Halen – Watch the Heartbreaking Clip Here

Eddie Van Halen’s ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli got emotional and teared up while discussing the late guitarist and how she and her son, Wolfgang Van Halen, have been faring since his painful demise.

It has been about three months since the world said goodbye to the renowned guitarist Eddie Van Halen at 65, and for his family, life hasn’t been easy without him.

On Monday, Eddie’s ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli made an appearance on the “Today” show to discuss healthy recipes for the new year. During the conversation, the topic of her ex-husband came up, and the actress got emotional.

When asked by anchor Hoda Kotb how she and her son, Wolfgang Van Halen, have been faring since Eddie’s demise, Bertinelli got emotional and teared up. After appreciating the hosts, the chef said:

“It’s been rough. Very bittersweet. We’re doing OK. We spent the holidays together. I’ll see him later today. We’ve been spending a lot of time together.”

Bertinelli welled up when a photo of her, Eddie, and Wolfie in a warm embrace popped up on the screen. She admitted that it has been challenging as she finds herself about to text the “Eruption” crooner before realizing that she can’t.

Fans may recall that Eddie sadly passed away on October 6 after a long battle with cancer.

She concluded, thanking co-host Carson Daly for doing an excellent piece on her son, confessing that it touched her heart. Daly responded, describing Wolfie as an incredible young man who is a testament to both of his wonderful parents.

Bertinelli and the late Van Halen frontman were married for more than 20 years before they called it quits. They tied the knot in 1981 and separated in 2001 before their eventual divorce in 2007, but remained amicable up until Edie’s death.

Hours after the announcement, Bertinelli also shared a tribute of her own to her former husband, appreciating him for giving her the one true light in her life, their son.

The “One Day At a Time” alum lauded the late singer for persevering through his battle with lung cancer and she also mentioned that she was grateful for being by his side in his last moments.

Days after his demise, the television personality uploaded a series of throwback photos, including one from the first night they met. The young lovers were seen at Shreveport, Lousiana, on August 28, 1980, sharing a sweet hug.
