'Inside Edition' Producer Bob Read Dies of COVID-19 at 60

"Inside Edition" producer Bob Read passed away at 60 from complications relating to COVID-19 in January 2021.

Bob Read, a producer and managing editor from "Inside Edition," has passed away this weekend at the age of 60 from complications relating to COVID-19.

He had spent the last 10 months covering the pandemic and stories relating to it. However, it turned personal when the journalist tested positive for the virus in December.

Read had been a part of the "Inside Edition" family for 30 years. He was in charge of the show’s award-winning investigative unit and was a managing editor for general news.

"Inside Edition" wrote an article about Read where they described him as a mentor and a cherished staff member. The staff wrote this about him:

"Bob was much more than just a first-class journalist. He was a mentor and dear friend to so many of us at Inside Edition."

His Journalism career started at "ABC News 20/20." He produced various investigative reports, news, and features during his 8 years with the news agency.

He also wrote and produced investigative reports for "Dateline NBC" as reported by Deadline. He joined "Inside Edition" in 1990 and spent most of his career there.

This week's episode of "Inside Edition" will feature a segment about the late and beloved Read.

He was a Long Island native. Through his work, he was able to shape many other journalists' careers, and his legacy will live through the work that they produce.

The program shared that his tireless work ethic inspired others around him during his career with the news program as said on the "Inside Edition" Twitter account:

"His passion, tireless energy, and grace under pressure inspired all of us to do our best work."

Read is survived by the love of his life, his wife Michele, and their two children Tyler and Casey, to whom he was a proud father. A fund has been set up in his honor.

The fund is called The Robert B. Read Memorial Fund. The fund will provide financial assistance to families who have been affected and forever changed by the virus.
