See Reese Witherspoon's Heartfelt Message after 'Election' Co-star Jessica Campbell's Death
Reese Witherspoon mourned the tragic death of her “Election” co-star, Jessica Campbell, with a touching message on social media. Witherspoon reflected on their time working together on the movie.
Actress Reese Witherspoon is devasted by the tragic loss of her former co-star, Jessica Campbell. Witherspoon took to social media to pay tribute to the late star, writing a touching tribute that read:
“So heartbroken to hear this. Working with Jessica on "Election" was such a pleasure. I’m sending all my love to Jessica‘s family and loved ones.”

Witherspoon and the late Campbell starred together in the 1999 satire movie about a high school political campaign. Actor Chris Klein, who starred as Campbell’s on-screen brother, also mourned her loss in a heartfelt post.
He tweeted that he was saddened to hear about Campbell’s death, sending his sympathy to her loved ones. Klein recalled that starring in the satire movie was the first feature for them and expressed his gratitude for the time spent together.
Campbell suddenly passed away on December 29 at her Portland home at 38. Her demise was confirmed by her cousin, Sarah Wessling, who revealed to TMZ that the former actress was at her job as a naturopathic physician on the day she died.
Campbell’s performance in “Election” as Tammy Metzler earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
On getting home to visit her mother and aunt, Campbell went to use the bathroom but didn’t come out. When her aunt went in to check on her, she was seen collapsed on the floor, unconscious.
The paramedic tried to revive her on arrival, but they couldn’t. It was reported that before her demise, Campbell complained about experiencing some health issues. She mentioned suffering from congestion and a cold.

The cause of death hasn’t been revealed, and an autopsy has been performed. The results are expected to arrive soon. On hearing of her death, a GoFundMe page had been set up to cater for Cambell’s funeral expenses and her son, Oliver, 10.
Campbell’s performance in “Election” as Tammy Metzler earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance. Her acting credits include “Freaks and Geeks,” “Junk,” and “The Safety of Objects.”
The 1999 film was based on Tom Perrotta's novel of the same name, inspired by the 1992 Presidential elections. According to reports, Witherspoon was torn between playing Tammy and Tracy because of the powerful speeches they both delivered.
