Phylicia Rashad took some time to shower her sister with love on the occasion of her 71st birthday on January 16. The actress took to Instagram and shared a sweet photo of herself and Allen.

Allen looked gorgeous in a chic off-shoulder black dress in the snap. To accessorize, she wore two chains with crosses and matching earrings. Her short curls were neatly styled, and she accentuated her face with minimal makeup.

Rashad looked gorgeous in a plain white outfit, which she donned with statement jewelry. Her effortlessly elegant style always makes her stand out.

Being merely over a year apart in age, the sisters look like twins. They have aged gracefully, and their fans could not agree more. In the caption, Rashad wished her little sister a happy birthday.

Allen and Rashad have a beautiful bond that has stood the test of time. They have always been each other's rocks. They were born to the Pulitzer-nominated poet Vivian Ayers and grew up in Houston, Texas.

Ayers is proud of her daughters who have built an empire for themselves.

Their family did not come from money, so they could not attend special art classes or go to a movie. But their mother always assured them that the universe wanted their creativity.

As they got older, the sisters studied arts and followed their dreams of making it in the industry. Today, the successful duo is recognized for their valuable contributions to the entertainment industry.

In 1983, Allen made history by becoming the first Black woman to win a Golden Globe in the Best Actress category for "Fame." Currently, she plays Dr. Catherine Avery in the hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy."

Rashad, who shot to fame with her role in "The Cosby Show," bagged a People's Choice Award in the Favorite Actress in a New TV Series category in 1985. It marked a beginning of a glorious era for the actress.

Ayers is proud of her daughters, who have built an empire for themselves. Rashad and Allen would not be the people they are today without her guidance and love.

The sisters still remember how their mother never left them behind. Allen believes parents should take their children with them no matter how difficult it is. She believes in making them a part of her vision and dream.
