Over the weekend, Justin Bieber was feeling thankful and took a trip down memory lane to a difficult time in his life. The singer reflected on his controversial DUI arrest in 2014 with an emotional post.
Bieber shared a photo of him getting arrested on that day dressed in an all-black ensemble, handcuffed with his hands behind while the authorities led him away. In the caption, he described the arrest as not his finest hour.

The “Yummy” crooner got candid, admitting that he was hurt, angry, confused, and felt misunderstood by God. He also poked fun at his leather outfit, referencing the hot Miami weather. Bieber, grateful for growth, then wrote:
“All this to say, God has brought me a long way. From then til now, I do realize something...God was as close to me then as he is right now.”
The award-winning singer ended his message, encouraging his followers to allow their past mistakes to serve as a reminder of how far God has brought them. He urged them to let go of shame and not allow it to ruin their present.
Bieber, who broke into the spotlight at age 13, has often spoken out about the negative impact fame had on his life.
Bieber signed off his statement, declaring his unwavering love for his enormous fan base. According to reports, the singer was 19 years old at the time of the famous arrest, for which he pleaded guilty.
The Grammy Award winner was held on suspicion of resisting arrest, driving without a valid license, and being drunk while driving. His charges were, however, reduced to reckless driving and resisting arrest after a plea deal.
The case was settled with Bieber having to donate $50,000 to a charity and take anger management classes. Now, a born again Christian, the 26-year-old hasn’t shied away from looking back on his tumultuous past.
