Katy Perry appeared on the "Live with Kelly and Ryan" and discussed how intense it was to go back to work and be a working mom after welcoming her daughter Daisy, with her fiancee, Orlando Bloom.

Perry revealed that 5 weeks after giving birth to her baby in August, she was back at work, being a judge on the much-loved singing competition show, "American Idol."

Seacrest asked the new mom if the baby was on a schedule. Perry replied and said that, of course, they had a routine because Daisy is a Virgo and thrives on routine.

She shared that having to go back to work was intense because she had to breastfeed and take care of her newborn baby. She said to Kelly and Ryan:

"Giving birth, then going back to work and breastfeeding, like — holy crap! This is what women do? Oh my God!"

Kelly Ripa, a mom to 3 grown-up children, agreed with Perry and said it was amazing to see what their bodies were capable of.

Perry was on the show with her two co-judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Seacrest was interviewing his American Idol colleagues as he is the host of the singing competition.

She explained that she turned to transcendental meditation to get a break during the day.

Although her daughter might be thriving on a routine now, like most new parents, Perry shared that she had struggled with getting enough sleep and turned to meditation to help feel rested.

She spoke to Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness during the virtual event, "Meditate America," for David Lynch Foundation. She shared:

"I'm a new mother. My daughter — she's such a gift — but there is sometimes a challenge concerning sleep no matter how much support you have."

She explained that she turned to transcendental meditation to get a break during the day. She takes 20 minutes to meditate, and the meditation makes her feel deeply rested.

Perry opened up about her daughter and the importance of setting up boundaries during an Instagram Live to launch her "Coca-Cola Open To Better" can.

Perry shared that her baby girl had changed her life, as she had to "create space" for the extra time she had before having her and Bloom's child.

Daisy is Perry's first child and Bloom's second. Bloom shares his first child with his ex, Miranda Kerr. Their son, Flynn, is 10 years old.
