Reverend Alfred Charles "Al" Sharpton, who is famous for his show "PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton," has officially filed a divorce from his wife, Kathy Jordan.

A NEW DEVELOPMENT

Sharpton, who met Jordan, a former backup dancer, while on tour with James Brown in the '70s, were married in 1980. After 24 years of marriage, they separated in 2004.

The civil rights activist shares two adult daughters with Jordan, named Dominique and Ashley. It remains unclear if the estranged couple is seeking spousal support.

The National Action Network founder was linked to many women but has been in a relationship with personal stylist Aisha McShaw since 2013.

A REINVENTION

McShaw was the first woman Sharpton dated after separating from Jordan. The Baptist minister's break-up with his wife resulted in his dramatic weight loss in 2010.

Sharpton had lost 125 pounds. He attributed his weight loss to a change of diet, such as avoiding meat, eating fish twice a week, fruits and vegetables. He added it was part of a "reinvention." He said:

"I don't evolve, I'm "reinvented."

STILL TIGHT-LIPPED

While he is outspoken about politically-related issues through his TV show, "PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton," Sharpton has remained silent about the details of his relationships.

The spokesperson said Sharpton and Jordan had grown apart.

When a reporter interviewed McShaw about her real status with Sharpton, she told them that she is the reverend's girlfriend. However, Sharpton steered away McShaw from the reporter.

In another incident, when the MSNBC star was asked about his reaction after he had broken-up with Jordan, he didn't give any comment about the situation.

After declining to give a statement, Sharpton allowed a representative to speak on his behalf. The spokesperson said Sharpton and Jordan had grown apart.

Their split, the spokesperson said, was amicable. Meanwhile, Sharpton seems happy with his relationship with McShaw despite their age difference.
