HOW HER FAITH STARTED
In the short clip Hudson shared on Twitter, she recalled that she was seven years old when joining their church. She also remembered one Easter Sunday when she watched a Christian movie.
In the film, she watched Jesus being crucified on the cross and found it painful. Hudson started crying and her brother and sister who watched with her wondered why she wept.
Hudson's siblings looked up to their mother and asked what was wrong with her. Their mother told the siblings that there's nothing to worry about the "Dreamgirls" star.

Their mother assured Hudson's siblings that she was "happy." The crucifixion of Jesus on the cross had struck the 39-year-old singer hard. She told Gates:
"And that's when I feel like I really got it."

A TRAGIC EVENT
Hudson's deep faith in Jesus helped her overcome a terrible event in her life that shook her family. Her mother, brother, and seven-year-old nephew were killed in October 2008.
The person who killed them was identified as William Balfour, the ex-husband of Hudson's sister, Julia. He was convicted of triple murder and three life sentences.
Hudson won numerous awards, including an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award.
THE BIBLE CHANGED HER
Hudson and Julia were forced to pick up the broken pieces after the tragic murder. The Oscar-winning actress proved that her unwavering faith is "the ultimate help."
Not only did Hudson's faith saved her, but the Bible also changed her life. She shared in a past interview that she has been reading the Bible since she was young and it hasn't failed her yet.
Following her stint in "American Idol," Hudson's career took off after pursuing singing and acting. Hudson won numerous awards, including an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award.
In October, Hudson was chosen to play the late Aretha Franklin in the movie "Respect." It was Franklin who personally picked the actress before she passed away in August 2018.
