Christopher Meloni Reflects on Working with Late Chadwick Boseman during Golden Globes Pre-show

He might be gone, but actor Chadwick Boseman is definitely not forgotten. Ahead of the 2021 Golden Globes, his former co-star, Christopher Meloni, remembered him fondly.

Over the weekend on Sunday, Christopher Meloni, 59, was interviewed virtually by “E!.” The actor got to speak openly about his former “42” co-star and late actor Chadwick Boseman.

Sadly, the late star passed away at age 43 in August 2020, but in 2013 he starred alongside Meloni in “42.” Boseman won his first posthumously Golden Globe award for his work in “Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.”

At the pre-show of the Golden Globes, Meloni revealed he had been rooting for Boseman to win in his category. He won in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama category.

The “Law & Order: Organized Crime” actor said he hoped the late star would win because of his brilliant performance in the movie. Meloni noted how the late actor had put everything into his roles.

The “Organized Crime” star recalled how he hadn’t known who the “Black Panther” actor was when he first met him. He shared how they’d met during batting practice for the movie.

Meloni shared that the late star wasn’t only gifted as an actor, but he had been “pretty good” as an athlete. Boseman got himself the lead role in the biopic even though he had been an upcoming star at the time.

The former “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” actor revealed that he went up to the late star and congratulated him for bagging the lead role. He was thrilled for Boseman but didn’t know why.

However, when they started filming, it became clear why Meloni had been so happy for Boseman being chosen as the lead. The long-term actor realized the future star was the real thing.

Meloni thought the late actor had been more than just a great actor, but also a very special human being. Losing Boseman after a private 4-year battle with colon cancer affected Meloni deeply.

Christopher Meloni was one of the celebrities presenting the awards ceremony live from New York City.

The longtime actor brought his daughter, Sophia Meloni, to the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards. He looked quite dapper at the event in a dark blue suit with his 19-year-old daughter by his side.

She complimented her father’s look by wearing a stunning black dress. Meloni was one of the celebrities presenting physically at the awards ceremony live from New York City.
