Marcus Stiles, one of Jayroe's friends, spoke highly of the late bar owner and added, "Many of us called her mom." He noted that the 56-year-old kept her arms wide open to embrace any and everyone.

Stiles explained that Jayroe had a motherly heart and would relate with people irrespective of their color or social status. He remarked that everyone felt at home around the late Jayroe.

Jayroe's relationship with her customers went beyond normal, some of her friends noted. They reportedly said that she would go as far as paying her customers' rent and visiting them in the hospitals when they were in need.

The incident has been described as hard for community members who have found it difficult to come to terms with the untimely demise of one who loved without prejudice.

Campbell was reported to have fired several fatal shots at Jayroe and afterward fled the scene.

Jayroe's loved ones and friends were said to have gathered at Marshall's Tavern to celebrate her life, and about three hundred people turned up to honor her memory.

Her son Josh remarked that while people were sad about Jayroe's death, they also intended to keep her legacy alive by celebrating her life and the person she turned into.

Reports revealed that a 25-year-old Trecoby Leon Campbell had been arrested for the murder of Jayroe. His arrest came after Amarillo Police Department secured a search warrant for him.

The 25-year-old is reportedly being held at the Potter County Detention Center without bond. Reports revealed that he is yet to plead to charges he faces, and it is unclear if he has a lawyer defending him at this time.

Campbell was reported to have fired several fatal shots at Jayroe and afterward fled the scene. By the time help could get to Jayroe, she was battling a fatal gunshot wound on her chest, to which she succumbed.

Jayroe was taken to the nearest hospital following the shots, but despite the attempts to keep her life in her body, her injuries proved too fatal to give her a second chance at life.

Another sad event recently involved a 45-year-old officer Jesse Madsen, who was killed after his police cruiser ran into a car driving the wrong way. Madsen was hailed as a hero for risking himself to save others.

The 45-year-old was reportedly a seven-time recipient of life-saving police awards, and at the end of his life, he proved how much he deserved his awards.
