Get to Know Donya Fiorentino Who Is David Fincher and Gary Oldman’s Ex-wife

Gary Oldman and David Fincher starred in the hit 2020 film, "Mank," but they have one other thing in common -- they were both married to photographer Donya Fiorentino.

Actor Gary Oldman is nominated for the 2021 Best Actor Academy Award for his work in the film "Mank," directed by David Fincher -- who happens to be his third wife's first husband, and the father of her first child.

The wife they have in common is Donya Fiorentino, a former model, and a well-known photographer which makes Olman's sons Gulliver and Charlie, and Fincher's daughter Phelix half brothers and sister.

WHO IS DONYA FIORENTINO

The undeniably stunning Fiorentino was a successful model and aspiring actress who became a photographer in the mid-90s. Fiorentino is also the sister of actress Linda Fiorentino, best known for the sizzling thriller, "The Last Seduction."

It was sometime in the late 80s that Fiorentino met the then video director David Fincher, who had worked extensively with pop diva Madonna and had been romantically linked to the "Like a Virgin" singer.

MARRIAGE TO DAVID FINCHER

By the time Fincher started romancing the former model, the relationship with Madonna was definitely over, and in 1990 the couple married after a whirlwind romance and welcomed their daughter Phelix in 1994.

Sadly, within a year of Phelix's birth, the marriage was on rocky ground and in 1995 Fiorentino and Fincher were divorced. Fincher was granted full custody of their tiny daughter, possibly due to Fiorentino's problems with alcohol.

According to Oldman, Phelix, then 7, had found her mother unconscious after overdosing.

MARRIAGE TO GARY OLDMAN

In 1996 Fiorentino met the brilliant Gary Olman at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and the two were immediately attracted to each other. Four months later, Fiorentino was pregnant and in 1997 the couple married.

Fiorentino and Oldman welcomed their first child together, Gulliver, in 1997. Two years later, the family grew with the arrival of their son Charlie. Fiorentino developed rheumatoid arthritis and quickly became addicted to prescription pain killers.

ADDICTION

Fiorentino's addiction to pain killers led her to drink again, and she started taking cocaine. Soon the couple's life was a constant conflict and in 2001 Fiorentino filed for divorce, accusing Oldman of domestic abuse.

The couple tussled over the custody of their sons Gulliver and Charlie, then four and two years old. What followed was one of the ugliest custody battles Hollywood had ever seen, with the couple trading accusations.

CUSTODY BATTLE

According to Oldman, Phelix, then 7, had found her mother unconscious after overdosing, and Fiorentino accused her husband of beating her with a telephone after she tried to call 911 for help.

Fiorentino also accused Oldman of abusing their sons, which the actor denied along with the domestic abuse allegations. Child Services subsequently investigated Fiorentino's claims and found them to be false.

FULL CUSTODY

The court awarded Oldman full custody of Gulliver and Charlie, but Fiorentino is not one to forgive and forget. In 2018, when Olman won an Oscar as Best Actor, she lashed out at the Academy for giving an award to an abuser. Her son Gulliver stated in his father's defense:

"I was there at the time of the ‘incident,’ so I'd like to make this radiantly clear: it didn't happen. Anyone who says it did is lying.”

TWO EX-HUSBANDS

It's Oscar time again, and 2021 has Fiorentino's two ex-husbands nominated for Academy Awards. Fincher for Best Director, and Oldman for Best Actor -- both for the movie "Mank."

Curiously enough, Fincher produced the film "Mank" based on his late father Jack Fincher's script. It will be interesting to see how Fiorentino reacts to seeing both her ex-husbands at the 2021 Academy Awards, nominated for working together on the same film.
