She added that she was celebrating some of her favorite moments with Lukas. She narrated how she and Laign, who she called Sweet Amber, adopted the pup from the Animal League before adding:
"This morn on @goodmorningamerica we shared some adorable pups still looking for their FUREVER home. Head to my Facebook page to see them all!"
The television personality's fans took turns commenting on her cute post and gushed over her and her puppy. One fan described Lukas as a handsome and sweet little man.
Another user described the pup as a precious little blessing, while a third fan said the video was adorable. Many other fans commented with red heart, love, and different emojis.
It was love at first sight for Amber when she sighted Lukas, a scruffy Tibetian spaniel-papillon mix.
Roberts and Laign adopted Lukas in 2015 after losing their beloved dogs KJ, a Jack Russell Terrier, and Frances, respectively. Laign lost Frances in 2013, while Roberts lost KJ in February 2015.
She shared a close bond with the dog, who was with her for 18 years before he died. Roberts mourned KJ's passing and posted a touching tribute to him.
In her tribute, she praised the dog's utter devotion and credited KJ for helping her through the most difficult times in her life. Roberts, a two-time cancer survivor, explained that KJ licked her bald head during her battle with the dreaded disease.
He also comforted her when her parents died. She ended her emotional tribute by expressing how grateful and blessed she was to have had KJ for as long as she did, adding that the pup gave so much love was greatly loved in return.
Having lost a pet like KJ, it was difficult for Roberts to let go, but her "Good Morning America" co-host, Lara Spencer, took it upon herself to encourage the former and Laign to open their hearts to a new dog.
She accompanied them to the largest no-kill animal rescue organization in the world, Northshore Animal League America in Port Washington, New York, to help them find a new dog.
After meeting and playing with multiple dogs, she was slightly more wary of saying goodbye to KJ. However, it was love at first sight for Amber when she sighted Lukas, a scruffy Tibetian spaniel-papillon mix.
Roberts eventually warmed up to Lukas. Over five years since their first meeting, Lukas has become a wonderful addition to Roberts and Laign's home, and they are more than happy having the pup around.
