In what can only be described as a devastating incident, a mother-of-six named Julie Eberly lost her life in a road rage shooting that happened on a North Carolina interstate. The tragic event occurred on March 25.

Officers’ attention was called to a gunshot wound victim on Fayetteville Road in Lumberton from Exit 22 around 11:40 am. The Lumberton Police and EMS noticed Julie had been shot through the passenger door upon their arrival.

The 47-year-old was on the road with her husband Ryan, and they were on their way to South Carolina for their seventh wedding anniversary when they got involved in a road rage encounter that went south.

After the couple’s vehicle came close to hitting the suspected gunman’s vehicle, he rolled down his window and fired multiple shots at the Eberly’s cars, one of which fatally hit Julie. He reportedly sped off and exited at Exit 22.

He drove a suspected 2010 Chevrolet Malibu or Impala with tinted windows and silver or grey car color. Wilkins urged the public to come forward with any clue or video footage between 11:30 am and noon.

Wilkins informed the public that authorities have gone through several hours of surveillance footage to identify the suspect and the vehicle used in a follow-up update. He shared that he met with Ryan and his parents, and the family is heartbroken.

Ryan and Julie were headed to Hilton Head Island and left behind their six children with their grandparents in Pennsylvania. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward of $10,000 for information that leads to the gunman’s arrest.

The reward fee was reportedly donated by an anonymous resident of Robeson County who is hopeful that the perpetrator is brought to light. Since the news of Julie’s death broke, there has been an outpouring of support for the Eberly family.

As of this writing, a total of $47,445 has been raised in the GoFundMe account set up by her loved ones. The money raised will reportedly be donated to charities close to the late Julie’s heart.

Earlier this month, a woman was killed after she was run over by the car she boarded. It happened that she got into a fight with the male driver and got out of the vehicle. Once the driver began moving, she held onto the car handle.

Unfortunately, the door handle was ripped from the car, and the victim fell. She was run over by the same vehicle. The suspect returned to the scene after realizing the woman was hit. He might face an intoxication, manslaughter, or murder charge.
