NOT A RANDOM SHOOTING
Although the mass shooting is still under investigation, public information officer Jessica Williams revealed that law enforcement does not believe that the act of violence was random.
Gonzalez has been charged with four counts of murder and three attempted murders. He is eligible for the death penalty.
The police officers discovered numerous firearms at the gunfight scene upon arriving at the scene, which will aid them in further investigating what happened that night. No suspects have been identified thus far.
MOURNING ON EASTER SUNDAY
As the rest of the world celebrated Easter Sunday, the North Carolina locals of Wilmington streamed to the house on Kidder Street to place flowers, photos, and other memorabilia in honor of the three people who died.
Family members and loved ones of the victims gathered on the curb to remember the young people's lives that they had lost. Local law enforcement is just as horrified and saddened by the incident as Williams shared:
"Our hearts go out to all affected by this senseless violence, and we ask that anyone with information surrounding this incident please come forward."
ALSO IN MOURNING
The Northern Carolina community is not the only one that has recently been affected by mass shootings. A business complex in Southern California was the location of a shooting that took four people's lives.
One of the victims was a nine-year-old boy, Matthew Farias, who was amongst those killed in the incident on Wednesday in the City of Orange. The young boy died in the protective arms of his mother.
The authorities say that the City of Orange shooting was not random but that the suspect targeted the building and those inside it. Jenevieve Raygoza, 28, Leticia Solis Guzman, 58, and Luis Tovar, 50, were the other three victims.
44-year-old Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez has been identified as the suspect. Gonzalez has been charged with four counts of murder and three attempted murders. He is eligible for the death penalty.
